Night-time crit, pot luck, and fierce racing make a weekend
Indian Creek is a mix of swooping descents and steep climbs, interspersed with small technical features. Just a couple miles from the start the first descent begins. It will keep you on your toes and asking for more. Fast and flowing, watch out for spots of snow, but keep pedaling fast. The high alpine environment will beg you to stop and take in the views, but reserve this ‘til the race is done. Passing might be difficult for the first couple of miles, but a dirt road soon appears and climbs for a couple of miles. Make your move here before large whoop-de-doos on singletrack begin in earnest. Find your climbing legs here to finish the lap strong. The ensuing descent at the start of lap two will keep you pedaling.
Limited to 300 participants, the race will feel intimate. Head down Friday night for a fat tire crit around the campsite and bring a dish to share at the pot luck. Camping and affordable lodging available for those who prefer a little cush.
If you haven’t ridden here before, head down to experience some of the best riding just outside of the Denver city limits. If you have, come out and remind yourself how much you love it here. – Sydney Fox
