Pearl Izumi Octane SL II MTB Shoe
(July 16, 2010)Pearl Izumi's Octane SL II has proved to be one of the best all around shoes I've strapped to my feet. Offering a durable, high traction sole the shoe performs extremely well on those all day epics when there is a good amount of time spent pushing the bike rather than pedaling it. But Pearl Izumi also focused on keeping these shoes as light as possible. At 340 grams (size 43), these shoes could fit in to any XC racers arsenal of lightweight goods while still providing comfort for everyday training rides.
Overall these shoes score very highly, after riding in a variety of shoes, from lightweight race to endurance comfort, Pearl Izumi offers a shoe that fits the bill for amost all riders. With a one piece upper, Uni-directional carbon sole, and high traction Rubthane lugs (meaning they are grippy yet not too soft), whats not to like? If you are looking for a shoe that is comfortable and functional the Octane SL is for you, plus you will get the added bonus of them being light....
