Gore Bike Wear’s Amazone Lady Jersey: Comfort and Style for the Ladies

(April 25, 2010)

Review by Caroline Spaeth

Fashion is never far away from function in Gore Bike Wear’s apparel, especially the women’s designs. Gore’s cool weather jersey is the Amazone Lady Jersey. The fashionable jersey is highlighted by its feminine cut to specifically fit a woman’s body, by its stylish seam lines and by an ergonomically shaped collar.

Function is an equal partner with fashion in this jersey. The brushed nylon interior is soft to the touch and comfortable in cold temperatures. The jersey has a high collar and lower front zipper to deal with the varying body temperatures in cool-weather riding. Add to those features a longer back panel for riding, elasticized cuffs and hem for better fit and reflective piping on the arms and back. The short zipper on the back conceals a plentiful pocket with ample room for a stack of long-ride snacks.

I enjoyed the fit and feel of this jersey. I love a jersey with a soft interior. It makes the morning commutes or cold weekend rides much more bearable. The 16 percent Elastane material in the jersey gives it a stretch that conformed to any movement I had on the bike. The sleeves were long enough for stretching out on a road bike, and the feminine cut with more form-fitting sides kept the jersey from getting bunched up under my jacket. I even tried this jersey out on a run and it moved well during an hour on the trail. Gore Bike Wear’s apparel has European sizing, which to us larger Americans typically means ordering up a size. As a consistent medium in bike apparel sizing, I fit in a large jersey.

It’s important to have a well-fitting jersey when you’re riding, and this jersey fits the bill--topping it off by making you look good at the same time.
