Srams XX1 sets to up the standard for a simplified drivetrain.
Designed as a compliment to the increasingly popular enduro/all-mountain segment, Srams new 1x11 drivetrain pairs with their newly released Type 2 clutch derailleur system to create a simple yet effective drivetrain for technical trail abuse.
Prototype shots show the system setup without any type of chainguide chain guide, which is made possible by the Type 2 clutch equipped rear derailleur. This not only simplifys the use of 1x it also lightens the system up over other available options.
SRAM will offer the XX1 as both trigger and GripShift and will only be compatible with SRAM shifters. A special freehub will be needed and will only be available from SRAM and DT Swiss at first.
We have no word on pricing or expeceted release dates yet, but we are excited to hear more about the system, which will be launched at Crankworx Les 2 Alpes from July 9-15.
