(July 4, 2013) BRECKENRIDGE, Colo— With every year and the celebration of our countries independence, so comes the Firecracker 50. The folks over at Mav Sports put on great events, and this one is no different. Brought to you by the Wellington Neighborhood, The Firecracker 50 sends racers out on some of the most classic trails that Breckenridge has to offer.
How does he do it? After all these years Dave still has got the speed! Dave Wiens finished third and just under six minutes back.
When the finish line is in sight, just run it out.
(L) Breckenridge makes for a perfect setting for a bike race. (R) Gretchen Reeves leading the pro women as she sets out for her second lap.
Heidi Rentz blazes by to finish the first lap of her duo team. Rentz along with Rebecca Gross took first in female team. (R) Racers come out in droves for this race.
(L) A fat bike was even spotted on course. Jon Harman knows how to have a good time. (R) It's not always fun and games...
Jay Henry is no stranger to the Firecracker 50 with previous wins and a fourth place finish this year.
(L) Barney Ford trail on a tandom? You got skills! (R) Dave Wiens of Team Topeak Ergon had a great day on the bike.
(L) Travis Brown has still got what it takes to go fast. A 50 mile race is like a regular every day ride for Mr. Brown. (R) Nathan Miller is an animal finishing the Firecracker 50 in just under four hours, on a single speed! His finishing time would have put him in 15th place in the Pro Men.
