Proceeds to benefit Gunnison Trails
Dave Wiens has now offered to add one of his winning Leadville 100 belt buckles to his Discarded Bagel Snack currently up for Auction on Ebay.
The discarded bagel, which Wiens tossed aside of the trail during the 2010 Leadville 100 bike race was originally placed up for auction on Ebay as a gag joke, has now been bid up over $160. But now the bidding is sure to go higher with the recent addition of the LT100 belt buckle.
The belt buckle information is not currently listed on the Ebay item discription but Dave Wiens has confirmed with Mountain Flyer that indeed he will include the belt buckle to the happy winner of the bagel.
You've wondered how the ever-green all time Great Dave Wiens rides as long and as hard as he does, well here's the secret. A simple mini-bagel with PB&J made by Champion wife Sue DeMattei. This super fuel was collected by an adoring fan, and this fan thought she should give it back to him after the Leadville 100 as he dropped it on course. Wiens came in 4th this year, but had his fastest time ever - these are 'super bagels'
All proceeds to go to Gunnison Trails - the mountain bike advocacy group that Wiens Champions.
Well wrapped in plastic, it will stay for quite a while! Buyer pays shipping as well, and is donating to a great cause.
