This handy conglomeration eliminates the possibility of wrench slippage, and thanks to the tool’s centering axel, there’s virtually zero chance of damaging the lock-ring. Add in a rubberized grip and M-Type Hardened Steel, and you’ve got a quality product that is ready for years of use.

The Chain Grip ($20) is another handy item from BBB. This simple device clamps into the rear wheel dropouts of any mountain or road machine and allows for hassle-free chain cleaning, as the deep groove of the orange plastic chain-holder securely traps the chain, even while aggressively spinning the cranks. I also appreciated that my rear wheel was spared the solvent and grease shower that a good scrub always creates.

The Chain Grip can also be used during cycle transit, as once installed, it will prevent the rear triangle from being squashed should someone sit on your bike box. And because it maintains chain tension, you won’t have to worry as much about your frame being damaged by an errant chain.
