(Nov 27, 2010) GOLDEN, Colo.—Colorado cyclocross racers converged on Lookout Mountain to work off their Thanksgiving Day indulgences with some warm abundant sunshine to bring on a sweat.

Longmont, Colo.-Anyone driving up from the south to Sunday’s race in Longmont was in for an unpleasant surprise. The temperature was at least 20 degrees colder at the race venue than anywhere to the south. A dark and ominous cloudbank drifted back and forth across the venue, with a cold biting wind to spice things up.

CENTENNIAL, Colo.-The second race in the Alpha Cross series was held under sunny but cold and sometimes breezy skies at Arapahoe Community Park. The course was primarily deep grass around the park and athletic fields, with a small bit of pavement, and a sand pit that forced just about everyone off their bikes.

Messages, Music and racing the Prologue
Last night in the Claro Brazil ride village I had one of the best miscommunications. In the center of the village is an open air tent, bar and music area with bean bags, couches and flax mats. I was using a grid rolle and stretching when one of the race doctors came over introduced himself, asked my name, where I was from.
Very Slippery MUCUGE, BAHIA, Brazil-Andy Eyring and Lukas Kaufmann (Team European Youngsters) stopped the clock in 31:07, winning the six-day Claro Ride Brasil’s 13km stage 1 prologue time trial on Sunday.

MUCUGE, Brazil—What a trip it’s been so far. We’ve spent about 25 hours traveling from Gunnison Colorado to Mucuge Brazil. Strangely enough we haven’t experienced any conflicts along the way and we managed to receive our entire luggage undamaged.

On Halloween all the freaks come out to play. No where is that more true than at cyclocross races across the country. Even in conservative Utah the Halloween weekend gets the biggest and weirdest crowds.

With one of the biggest weekends of Cross racing in Colorado on tap, the fifth round of the North American Cyclocross Trophy (NACT) series rolled into Boulder on Saturday. Most of the top pros in the nation were on hand to do battle at the always-challenging Boulder Reservoir venue, as valuable UCI world cup points were up for the taking.
GUNNISON, Colo.—Trina Ortega has been named managing editor of Mountain Flyer Magazine. She will be replacing Caroline Spaeth, who filled the position since the magazine’s inception in 2004.
