Hosted by the City of Grand Junction, and with great cooperation from the Grand Junction Bureau of Land Management Field Office, U.S. Bank presents the Inaugural Grand Junction Off-Road endurance mountain bike event and community concert scheduled for Labor Day weekend 2013; August 30 - September 1.
It’s with great excitement that Epic Rides introduces the second Off-Road endurance mountain bike event in our lineup of annual celebrations hosted by keynote American outdoor enthusiast communities while emphasizing healthy living through mountain biking.
Featuring the world class Lunch Loops and neighboring trail systems, the “Grand” courses will start and finish riders on Main Street in downtown Grand Junction and take them through some of the most technically challenging and visually stunning landscapes in the country, while traversing the Tabeguache trail system to the distant reaches of the Magellan loop. This endurance event will test not only fitness, but also bike handling skills and a requisite inclination toward reward through perseverance. As riders return to the welcoming and unique environment of Grand Junctions meandering Main Street, the event hub and 3-day long festival is sure to offer a welcomed feeling of reward and personal gratification through great surrounds, libations and noteworthy culinary indulgences.
Whether riding for the custom wine country inspired prizes awarded to all finishers, the particularly unique prizes for the top five in both the 30 and 40 Grand amateur events, or the $20,000 Pro Cash purse (a rare equal payout to male/female categories), each participant is sure to find great achievement by completing one of the 15, 30 or 40 Grand courses (1 Grand = 1 mile).
All visitors, including the non-riding, are invited to attend and enjoy Grand Junctions thriving outdoor enthusiast opportunities coupled with progressive American Main Street arts and retail. Sunrise yoga, road rides in the monument, a swim in the Colorado River, imbibing the region’s best wines, enjoying quality time with friends and family in Riverside Park, and trail systems beyond “The Grand” course offering an endless assortment of world class riding for all ages and abilities. All are welcome for this Inaugural 3-day event and are sure to appreciate a notable experience in Grand Junction, CO.
Event related ingredients making up the "Event Hub" consist of the Grand start/finish line, a well appointed vendor and tech expo, side shows, kids fun ride, live music and a two of a kind opportunity to be submerged in the mountain bike industry's vibe while enjoying a cool mesa evening in good company - bring a chair, steady vibes and good friends, then relax at the concert as the bands belt out tunes, the podiums are announced and the sun sets on Mesa County’s most impressive geological features.
Fundraising activities associated with the Grand Junction Off-Road are currently being considered. In the meantime, common to all Epic Rides events, all participants and concert attendees will be required to donate two canned goods upon arrival.
