first race advice

Postby ianG » Wed Nov 09, 2011 10:54 am

I have been a serious cyclist (mountain biker mostly) for about 7 years now. I live in Golden Colorado. On my birthday this past Sunday i turned 33 and decided I wanted to do compete in a MTB race this year.I dont just want to complete the race, I want to train for it and take it seriously. I would like for the course to be in the states of Colorado(1st choice) or Utah. Does anyone have some advice on what a good race for this would be?

Hey Ian.
What type of race are you looking to do? I assume an XC style race, which in that case I would recommend something a bit longer maybe around the 40-50mile range. An event that is a bit longer often is more enjoyable as a beginner, the race spreads out and you get a good amount of time to ride with others who are at a similar level. Check out the event page for some options!
